In Uchsharif, in the cotton and rice growing district of Bahawalpur, Southern Punjab, Agricultural officers and field assistants who were trained to be plant doctors in April 2012 are running weekly clinics very efficiently. In this picture, a farmer arrives at the clinic with a pest problem on cotton. The plant doctor, Saif Ullah, listens to the farmer attentively. He then examines the sample, diagnoses the problem, and finally gives an oral and verbal recommendation for the farmer to get rid of his problem for this season, and how to reduce the effects the following season.
